Test pricing and request history
Understand $0.000 actual charges, live-equivalent prices, request records, and billing isolation.
Every answered test request shows two separate amounts:
- Actual charge:
$0.000. This is the authoritative customer amount. - Live-equivalent price: what the same source and freshness would cost in Live at the current price band.
Openhandle calculates the equivalent price through the normal pricing service,
then applies the test billing disposition. Test is not an allowance or a
discount.
What is recorded
The immutable usage entry keeps the workspace, API key, request ID, environment,
channel (api, playground, or mcp), operation, freshness, source, pricing
version, equivalent price, dataset version, and timestamps. Its billed requests,
actual amount, and allowance applied are all zero.
Requests shows all authenticated test attempts. Usage shows answered test calls. Use the Test filter to reconcile them. An error before the API can produce an answer—for example invalid authentication, validation, or rate limiting—has a request event but no usage entry.
What never changes
Test traffic cannot change:
- Free Live requests or any other included-request grant.
- Live or billable request counters and graduated price bands.
- Spend-cap consumption or unbilled exposure.
- Payment-method state.
- Invoice, tax, or accounting totals.
Invoice and month-close queries also require environment=live and a positive
billable amount. This is a second accounting guard after the zero-charge entry.
