Instagram scraper APIs on RapidAPI

The Instagram scraping listings on RapidAPI: what they cost, how they fail, and how to evaluate one before you depend on it.

Checked August 2026 · public pricing pages · no affiliate links

Search "Instagram" on RapidAPI and you will find more than a dozen scraper listings with names like Instagram Scraper API, Instagram Looter, and Instagram Scraper Stable API. They are cheap to start, genuinely useful for prototypes, and the least predictable way to put Instagram data in production. This page explains the landscape so you can pick with open eyes.

The landscape

  • Pricing. clusters in subscription tiers between $5 and $100 per month for roughly 5k-100k requests, with overage fees above the cap. Free tiers of a few hundred requests are common.
  • The listings are unofficial. None of them are Meta products. They read Instagram's private web and mobile interfaces, and they break whenever Instagram changes something.
  • Many are the same product. Several listings are thin wrappers around a shared upstream backend. When that backend has a bad week, a handful of "different" APIs degrade together. The listing pages do not disclose this.
  • Churn is normal. Listings disappear: takedowns, terms enforcement, or authors abandoning them. The highest-rated Instagram listing today may not exist next quarter.

What the ratings do not tell you

RapidAPI shows star ratings, popularity, and average latency. It does not show success rate over time, behavior on private or deleted accounts, schema stability across versions, or whether 0 in a metric means zero or "the scraper could not read it". Those are exactly the properties that decide whether your product works. You can only learn them by testing.

How to evaluate a listing

Spend an hour and a free tier before you commit:

  1. 01Request a private profile and a deleted profile. You want a clean, distinguishable error, not a 200 with empty fields.
  2. 02Request the same profile ten times. Compare metrics across responses. Instability here predicts instability everywhere.
  3. 03Check what a missing metric looks like. If unavailable data comes back as 0 instead of null, every aggregate you compute will be quietly wrong.
  4. 04Read the listing's update history and support threads. A responsive author with recent fixes is worth more than a fifth star.
  5. 05Model your real volume against the tiers. Include overage fees; that is where marketplace pricing surprises people.

When a listing is the right call

For a prototype, a one-off dataset, or a hackathon, the best-rated Instagram listing is a fast, cheap start; that is the marketplace working as designed. For production traffic, weigh the tradeoffs on the RapidAPI vs direct providers page before you build on one.

How we checked

Based on RapidAPI's public Instagram scraping listings and their published pricing tiers, read in August 2026. Listings change and disappear frequently, so we name patterns rather than endorse specific listings. Tell us about an error and we will correct it.
